Dear Jane: If your future mother-in-law has returned to the Catholic Church and is going to bible studies, God is to be praised and thanked. It is a hopeful sign that she has given up voodoo, but not a guarantee of that since many people claim to practice both Catholicism and voodoo. A person practicing voodoo will usually have voodoo paraphernalia around (e.g., books, materials for making voodoo spells), taking about spells and voodoo philosophy, and the like. Has anyone just asked her if she practices voodoo. As for eating the vegetables she sent, it is up to your discernment as to whether or not she is practicing voodoo. You need to ask her. If she is, then I would reiterate my original caution to avoid gifts from her. God Bless, For information on how to receive help see our Help page.
