Question Title Posted By Question Date
Can People hear my thoughts Karen Sunday, May 3, 2009

Question:

I was a cafeteria Buddhist (raised Catholic) when I started noticing hints that people around me knew who I was. I asked my mom if there were hidden cameras and head phones in her ear because everything everyone was sayingwent a long with my thoughts and I thought they had some kind of expert checking on my facials. But then I found out that people could actually hear my thoughts, with plenty of evidence. So my mom had mehospitalized for about a week.

I decided to go off the medicine they were giving to me because I was convinced there was nothing wrong with me, I started to hear other people's thoughts! And everything they told me was terrible.

One day a voice claiming to be God said to me Karen, Listen, I hate you." I didn't know to test the voice so I just said "Awesome!" and he said "Yes it is" he told me to run to the near by jail and confess my sins. While I was there he said sit down, "You're going to die tomorrow." I was like okay! Because I thought it was God. He then ha me walk back home down the middle of the road, where my father picked me up. He lives across town and had no reason to be there but I was told in my head that God sent him. then God told me to get out of the car and run, he told me to go back to my house where he told me to take a knife and kill myself, then he said "Would God tell you to do this." and I said no and he said "Must be the devil." a lot happened after this and obviously I didn't die.

So that meant that the voice was lying and God doesn't lie.

I also heard Jesus' voice in all this but I don't believe that was really him either. I think it was the devil that did all of this. But my mom says even the devil can't hear your thoughts.

Do you think it could be the devil saying all this crap to me or do you think I'm hallucinating. I was fine before people started talking to me funny. The only reason I think it may be just my imagination is that there are so many atheists stil. Please any advice would be appreciated.

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM

Dear Karen:

Nobody but God can read your thoughts and you cannot hear other people's thoughts. God loves everyone; He would never say that He hates you. These thoughts, including that of suicide, and your thinking that you can hear other people's thoughts are most likely psychiatric symptoms.

While the devil can harass you, I think that you need to go back to the doctor and do as he instructs. Take your medication and do not get off it.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
