Question:

Hello.

First off, i would like to apologize. I am not 18. However, i had tried asking a question before, and i never found the answer in the forums. Unfortunately, I had my e-mail taken away from me, and so i couldn't check whether you answered me or not. Anyways, sorry.

The main problem is that i have a friend. She is very kind and loving. However, she suffers from a couple of difficulties. Severe depression, possible schizofrenia, and possible multi-personality disorder are the ones that come to mind readily. Also, she has odd... things. She will see mysterious, shadowy, cloaked objects. Also, malformed and bloody people. Odd other things, like mysterious lights and skulls. Whenever she closes her eyes, she will see things, to an extent. Lastly that I will mention is that she, along with depression, suffers from severe, well, bloodlust. She will 99% lose control and start cutting herself (it's a sad habit of hers, which I'm trying to break) hysterically. Or, if someone is around her, she tells me that she will feel this uncontrollable urge to torture them, to put them through the most severe pain that she can. This is not her personality. She is not like that.

My question for you is whether this whole thing may be demonic. Things i have done to help: I gave her a blessed cross and a holy medal. I also encourage her to see her psychologist. We are very, very close, and so i give her A LOT of emotional support. However, there's only so much a rather young and stupid teen-ager can do for a girl with possible demonic problems. Please, i need to know what else i can do to help. If there is anything. I know that this is out of my control.

Thank you.

Dear Francis:

Sorry for the delay in answering. Hopefully you will see this.

There is a reason we have the age requirement, but I thank you for being honest. Next time ask your parents before posting.

As for your friend, from your description, she has a serious emotional problem. She needs to see a psychologist for sure, but you cannot force her to do that. You can encourage her, which you seem to be doing.

In addition to encouragement and support, pray for her. I would suggest prayers from our Spiritual Warfare Catalog. Pray the Hedge Prayer of Protection, for example. Try to get her to pray that prayer.

If she is Catholic encourage her to go to Confession regularly and to receive the Eucharist. Confession and Eucharist are powerful means to cast out evil spirits. Even if she is not Catholic invite her to go to Mass each Sunday with you. She cannot receive the Eucharist in this case, but just being at Mass will give her a grace. Also, and very importantly, she and you should go to adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. For adoration just sit in front of the Tabernacle quietly. You and she can pray and talk to God about the problems. But for about 20 minutes just sit there quietly. Let God talk a little.

Adoration before Our Lord in the Sacrament can be powerful. It is like sitting and basking in the rays of the SON.

What she needs is this spiritual approach and to see a mental health professional.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
