Question:

Dear Br. Ignatius Mary,

Recently, I've been really struggling with prayer. I feel a repugnance for prayer, especially the Rosary. I also feel an avoidance for Mass, although I still go. As I've mentioned before I'm discerning a religious vocation.

Is it possible that this is a spiritual attack? How would I discern that?

Yours in Jesus and Mary,
Kayla

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM

Dear Kayla:

If you are discerning a religious vocation it is typical to receive attacks from the Enemy to make you doubt your vocation.

There is no need to focus on discerning whether or not this is a demonic attack. Just presume it to be safe and pray for protection and to rebuke any "spirit of repugnance of prayer" and spirit of "resistance to Mass."

Then, determine to say your prayers anyway and to go to Mass anyway even if you don't feel like it. The Bible says to "resist the devil and he will flee." Resist these inclinations regardless of their source and do what you should do.

We will be in prayer for your vocation.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
