Question: Dear Br. Ignatius Mary, Recently I heard a dog barking several times right outside my bedroom window, a low raspy noise. I didn't think anything about it because I live in a rural area. Additionally, after that on a separate occasion, I heard what sounded like an animal making a noises outside my bedroom window. I'm not sure why, but I became scared. I said a Hail Mary, and whatever it was went away. I've lived in the same are for most of my life, and I don't know of any animal that makes noises like that. Is it possible that this was spiritual in nature? If so do you have any recommendations? Thank you and God bless.

Animals can make many noises that we may not expect especially if they are rooting (digging for something) or catching prey. Animals routinely do the things you describe. Animals can make many noises that we may not expect especially if they are rooting (digging for something) or catching prey. Absent of other evidence, there is no reason to believe that this has anything spiritual about it.
