questions about wiccan practices, the use of sacramentals properly | bec | Friday, January 30, 2009 |
Question: Hi Bro. Ignatius, I hope you don't mind all my inquiries and such. I do wonder what kind of things are done to the rocks that are in the satchel the witch gave my husband.what kind of practices do witches do with stuff like that?? if its supposed to be "good" (not that either you or I believe that its actually good!), what does "good" entail from the wiccans side of things? is it more of good intentions with wrong follow through? I also worry becuase I said that I wanted my husband to quit smoking and thought she would say something to him (he seems to listen to her a lot more than me) and she had a look on her face and said that shed work on it. It was NOT my intention that she put a spell on him or whatever to quit smoking or anything like that, I was HORRIFIED because of her implications, I just thought she'd talk with him (I don't know if she DID put a spell on him, either, just assuming so). Also, what are the benefits to having blessed salt, and blessed frankinsense incense in the house? I put a little blessed salt in food I make (and any food that went to the witches house), I sometimes ill pray the Divine Mercy or Rosary with the lit incense (which is how I got back in contact with the wiccan: I was praying the Divine Mercy chaplet for her and not two minutes after finishing she called to say she wanted to set things right and put everything in the past and agree to disagree sort of thing.) Also, I have a sacramental package of "annointed rocks"; 4 rocks with crosses on them that were annointed by a priest with holy oil and one goes in each of the 4 corners of your house. they are supposed to form a "canopy of protection"...theres prayers that came with it to ask God to bless the house, us, and all in it and to send His holy angels to protect and keep it safe from evil and vanquish any rebel spirits that try to come in the house. i feel it might be moot when my husband does bring the satchel into the house? How can I use these sacramentals properly to aid me in ridding myself of this occult garbage? how to I make sure I don't use them superstitiously? is there any difference between holy water and exorcised holy water, especially given the situation?? (i have both) |

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM
Dear Bec: In terms of what is done with the things in the satchel and such, you need to mortify your curiosity. This is not information you need to know. It is not important for you to know. You need to terminate your relationship with this witch immediately. Do not ever go to her house again, and do not invite her to your house. Do not talk to her and especially do not ask her to intercede with your husband. All this must stop now. Also, you need to tell your husband to not bring that satchel into your house. Sacramentals are a sign of your faith. They have no power in themselves. Any power comes from the faith of the person that uses them. In addition, a blessed object has the "imprint" of God upon it by virtue of the blessing. As such, the blessed object is like a "no tresspassing sign" for demons to stay away. But, like any no tresspassing sign some will obey it and some will not. The owners of the no tresspassing sign must back it up. In this case that is backed up by your faith and devotion and prayers. Regular holy water is blessed by a priest accoring to the blessing form in the current Blessing Book. Exorcised Holy water uses the old blessing form that contains simple exorcisms of the water and salt. The benefits of blessed objects, other than being a no tresspassing sign, is that it reminds us of our baptismal promises and a sign of our faith in God and His Church. It can give us strength to have these sign, these reminders, around us. God Bless, P.S. Since this is a Q&A Forum, it is not designed for ongoing conversations.
