Question: Many thanks to you, Brother, and your colleagues in Christ! |

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM
Dear Ron: I praise God that your son does not have marfan and that the prayers have given hope and intimacy with God. I am sorry to hear about the pectus. I do not know anything about that condition. The mood swings, grouchiness, and self-confidence issues are related to his emotional ambivalence about his physical condition. I would check with your doctor about the possibility of a support group or other resources to help in that regard. Your prayers should focus on asking God and our Blessed Mother to comfort him and help him to see himself as a child of God whom is loved just as he is. Help him into a devotion of our Blessed Mother perhaps. Help him to come to an understanding that while he might not know why he has this condition that God will bring something good from it (Rom 8:28). That could be a stronger faith, or perhaps someday he will help others with the same condition. However God brings about something good from this, we know that He will because He said so and God does not lie. One of the thing you might do is to remind him of who he is in Christ. In my counseling I use a series of "I am" statements to encourage clients to realize who they are in Christ. Maybe some of these will help. Here are those statements: WHO AM I?
We will be praying for your son and for the family. God Bless,
