insomia and hallucinations | carlos | Monday, August 2, 2004 |
Question: Hello. I've never been to this site before but, I've spoken to my friend about this problem for some time now and he recommended I go here... that you may be able to help me out. My main problem is that I often go about four to five nights without sleep. This used to happen to me every now and then since I was about fourteen but, ever since I was seventeen it's been fairly severe. More resently it's been about five to six nights and every now and then, I'll go for as long as eleven days without sleep. After the seventh night, I will begin to hallucinate. I've seen things ranging from human bodies smashing through car windsheilds, to massive airplanes smashing into my place of employment. I've gotten psychiatric help and they've recommend medication but, becuase my father and I are ill communicado, and my mother passed some time ago, money is scarce and I have absolutely no way to pay for this treatment. they also recommended some natural ways and over-the-counter medications, all which I have tried with no lasting results. I also suffer from a chemical imbalance which results in manic depression, a borederline personality disorder, and an adjustment disorder (All of which I've been diagnosed for.Insomnia and depression is something that has been a trait in alot of the men on my fathers side of the family. My father too suffers from insomnia and depression.) My question is, i've tryed everything...getting myself tired by exercising, sleep-aids, just laying in the dark and none have worked... is there something I haven't tried? Is my quest for normalcy without hope? |

Dear Carlos: Based on what you have told me, it sounds like you really need to receive medical help. Going 11 days without sleep is a very serious thing and very dangerous. I would see if there is a Free Clinic in your town where you can receive treatment. If not, then check with the Department of Social Services in your county. They may be able to help or refer you to a program that can help. I am not a doctor, but your situation as you describe it sounds to be a very serious situation. If you call the County Welfare offices, or a Crisis Center, or a Free Clinic, they should be able to help you or to refer you to someone who can. God Bless, For information on how to receive help see our Help page. We suggest that before contacting us directly for help you try the Seven Steps to Self-Deliverance. These self-help steps will often resolve the problem. Also our Spiritual Warfare Prayer Catalog contains many prayers that may be helpful. If needed you can ask for a Personal Consultation.
