Question: Dear Brother, thank you for answering my question on October 21. Although in your reply you advised me to put the event in the past, I sometimes still find myself thinking about it, especially at night. It was a scary time for me, and on rare occasions, I still feel fearful, even though it has not reoccured. One thing about your answer has me perplexed: Why would the demon have wanted me to turn around? You posed this as a possibility, one that I had never before considered. I always assumed that it was my Guardian Angel warning me of the demon. I am not obsessed with this nor is it a big factor in my life; however, I do find myself thinking about it from time to time. I know that I will never really know what was happening; however, you are the first person I have discussed this with, and your expertise is greatly appreciated. I guess I am just looking for some answers, even though I realize they are probably irrelevant at this time. Thanks again for your counsel on this matter. Sincerely, Joe |

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM
Dear Joe: I cannot answer your question. I'd have to know a lot more about you to answer. In any event, the general answer is "who knows". Evil does not have to have reasons to do what it does. If we seek the "whys" we can go nuts. As for this particular experience we are only speculating. The demon may have wanted you to turn around to frighten you. But, when you did, it left. So, perhaps this was your guardian angel. Perhaps the scenario was that the demon hovering over you was about to physically attack you and your Guardian Angel inspired you to turn around, which exposes the demon who may have wanted to attack like a lion attacks an antelope -- by surprise. The Bible does describe the devil as a lion attacking its prey. Perhaps in turning around the demon would see the Holy Spirit in your eyes and that caused him to leave. It is all speculation. As for any residual fear, be sure to ask God to remove any fear from you and replace it with trust and peace in Him. Also, if needed you can pray the Rebuking Particular Spirits found in the SW Catalog to rebuke the spirit of fear. If these thoughts bother you there is also a Control Thoughts prayer, and if they bother you at night there is also a Bedtime Prayer of Protection. Don't go nuts trying to find answers to something that in the distant past God Bless,
