Question: I've been working with alot of magic and magicians that invokes demons and satan and what not, I want to stop and return to the Catholic church where I was raised. please give me some suggestions to do that. I really do need help getting out of this lifestyle
Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM Dear Amy: I praise God that you wish to abandon all that and return to the God and His Church. In terms of returning to the Church, you need to contact your local parish pastor and let him know you wish to return. If you have been baptized and confirmed already what you will need to do is to come to the Sacrament of Confession. This will restore you to a State of Grace and back into fellowship and communion with the Church. Then you may begin to receive the Eucharist. Of course whenever you sin, you must go back to Confession before receiving the Eucharist again. You can begin now to do what good Catholics do such as Sunday Mass, daily prayers and devotions, good works, etc. Your parish priest can give you more details. In addition to all this, from a spiritual aspect, you need to destroy any and all occult-oriented books, objects, materials, paraphernalia. These needs to be burned, if possible, and buried in the ground (do not just throw them away). When burning them, or destroying them in whatever way is possible, bless them with holy water and say a prayer to bind and cast out any spirits attached. Then bury the items. Any friendships in the occult need to be severed. You need to consider yourself vulnerable to influence and temptation. In a similar way as an alcoholic needs to stay away from alcohol, you need to stay away from anyone or anything that is occultic. This includes movies, TV shows, games, videos, books, music, with new age and occult themes. Because your involvement likely created some bondages I would suggest that you go through the Seven Steps to Self-Deliverance found at the bottom of the HELP page linked below. You need to specifically renounce your past involvements. That is part of the Seven Steps. The bottomline is for you to begin to move towards God and His Church. Begin to do all that a good and devout Catholic does. The more you move toward God the more this past lifestyle will be in the past. So, replace the new age and occult thoughts with Godly thoughts. Replace the new age and occult philosophies and activities with Godly philosophies and activities. I would recommend you get a copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2nd Edition.
