Battling Spiritual Warfare in my daily life | D | Friday, November 7, 2008 |
Question: Dear Brother, I have this very strong feeling that he is bonded by something that is preventing his conversion..preventing us from going to church togather as a family. Late Last year, he was feeling lost and for the first time he stepped into a church to pray. He was having his own financial difficulty and was lost in his job...He told me that he had a strong connection to Mother Mary and felt comforted when he sees her. However he still cant feel anything for Christ even till today...he doesn't go to church with me..He just goes as and when he feels like it. He even made a promise to convert...if his prayers were answered...(of coz Mother Mary did answer his cries for help) but at times I still dont get it.. He says he promise to convert but there are times there he goes to the temple to pray....??I really cannot understand what is going on with him. Is this right? Tried to talk to him abt conversion. God has blest him with a good job and someone has helped him to solve his part of his financial problem' He always tells me he can't connect with Christ and honestly I am tired of listening to the same old excuse..I dont even feel like talking about the topic about coversion anymore with him.I just feel that something is preventing my husband's conversion and that force is very strong... I am praying very hard...I never force him, but when I heard he promised to convert last year I was happy but then my hopes were dampen coz when I open the topic about conversion..He always says his not ready. Is there a prayer for one's conversion especially if the person is from a different faith..?? Appreciate your advise.thks.

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM
Dear D: We will certainly be in prayer for your husband's conversion. But, he cannot be forced to convert, of course, and he shouldn't convert unless he truly wants to and has come to a faith in Christ. What you need to do is to pray for him and never cease to pray for him. Let the Holy Spirit to the convincing. Your job is not to convince, but to pray, and if he asks questions about the Catholic faith, then to answer those questions. Here is a prayer that may be useful:
