Do I realy have to forgive each person individually? | Mary | Monday, October 6, 2008 |
Question: I am so thrilled to have found this site and have the privilege of writing to you. I forgive by an act of my will each morning as I do over an hour of spiritual warfare, both Catholic and Christian.
Do I HAVE to go back through all the torment and forgive each person individually? I pray for everyone who has tormented me and ask God to forgive them. |

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM
Dear Mary: I am sorry that you have had these experiences. God is with you and our Blessed Mother is there to comfort you. You do not have to rehash all the traumas, but you do need to specifically, one-by-one, forgive each person who hurt you. This does not have to be a big production. I advise that you read the following document Dealing with Bitterness and Unforgiveness (pdf) This document will talk about the definition of forgiveness. Most people really do not know the nature of forgiveness and that causes them to avoid it. Read the document, make your list of those you need to forgive, and then pray the little prayer at the end for each of the people on your list. God Bless, For information on how to receive help see our Help page. We suggest that before contacting us directly for help you try the Seven Steps to Self-Deliverance. These self-help steps will often resolve the problem. Also our Spiritual Warfare Prayer Catalog contains many prayers that may be helpful. If needed you can ask for a Personal Consultation.
