Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM
Dear Bridget: Well, your friend is mistaken. The doctrine of the Jehovah Witness is the same as always. Since your father was JW I would be cautious about this person meeting with him. It could stir-up in your father a desire to return to the JW, especially since JW are aggressively evangelistic. Personally, I do not see what you may have in common with this person to develop a friendship outside of work. The Bible warns us about association with people who "preach a different gospel" (Gal 1:8-9). In fact, St. Paul makes this more explicit that we are not to associate with those who do not obey Church teaching (2 Thess 3:14). Jehovah Witness does not obey the True Teaching of Christ and His Church. God Bless,
