Question: *This will be the last of these posts* I understand what you are saying about therapy, but I have already been to therapy. I got some insight into why I behave like I do. I do not think that I need anymore and when I mentioned suicide I was venting negative feelings. I am actually too scared to kill myself because I am afraid of failing the attempt or going to hell. If I was reallly serious, I would talk to a trusted friend. I do have a lot of negative feelings, but I have learned that my concern about the way I look has to do with controlling the feelings of other people. More specifically, I get "bent out of shape" when I am judged and like to be sure that this is not happening. This goes back to my childhood. I said the "rebuking particular spirits" prayers, but remember that I had these crystals that I discarded by putting holy water on them and throwing them in a wooded area in a quiet part of the park. I live in the city and can't bury them anywhere without calling attention to myself. I wanted to be sure that nobody could get them. I don't know if that was effective and if the intention and the blessing were enough. I still have the funny "chi" energy running through my hands and I have confessed this sin. I don't know what else to do. I can't go back to the park and get them--come think of it, the wooded area I threw them in probably attracts all kinds of perverts who may have found the crystals and use them for their own twisted purposes and now it occurs to me that that may be one possible explanation as to why the "chi" is in my hands. I don't know if I got myself into a deeper bind, but I did the best that I could considering the circumstances. |

Dear Katie: What you did with the crystals is fine. Don't worry about them. If you are still having what you call this "chi" feeling it is not because of the crystals directly. They are gone. In addition to confessing these sins you need to renounce the occult activity. There are prayers in the Prayer Catalog to do that. In addition, I would advise the Seven Steps to Self-Deliverance found in the HELP section. As for the counseling, you are most obviously NOT ready to stop counseling. You need to continue that probably for some time. As for the suicidal thoughts, they cannot be dismissed as not being serious. Suicidal ideation is ALWAYS serious no matter how much you think you will not actually go through with it. There are tens of thousands of dead people who thought they would not go through with it. Many of these people never intended to die, but made a suicidal attempt where they thought rescue would come in time -- but didn't. Suicidal thoughts can never be taken lightly. You need to specifically talk to your counselor about this and when you have those thoughts you need to call the Crisis Line or call a friend. Do NOT pretend this is not serious. This is more than just "negative thoughts." If it helps you to understand the importance of my warnings on this, I use to be a Crisis Counselor and was also on the Board of Directors of the organization, Ray of Hope. Ray of Hope was the first organization in the country to offer suppose and assistance to the those who had family members or friends die from suicide. Do not dismiss these suicidal feelings and thoughts as mere "negative thoughts, but I am too scared to actually do it." Under the right circumstances you might find yourself doing it anyway. Only a fool will not entertain that as at least a possibility. And, even if you do not kill yourself, which I pray that you do not, these thoughts are not merely "negative" but are indicators of some very deep issues that must be addressed in counseling. I pray that you will take heed of these words, remain in counseling, seek support when you feeling suicidal or have suicidal thoughts, and keep close to God. God Bless,
