Selling of ones soul BAUTISTA Wednesday, August 13, 2008

Question:

Can a parent or grandparent sell or offer there childs soul to the devil. Is this acknowledged by the church.

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM

Dear Bautista:

A person is the custodian of his own soul, at least from the time of the age of reason. Thus, consent would be needed to offer one's soul to Satan. Before the age of reason of the child a parent or grandparent can offer the child to Satan, subject the child to rituals, and cause the child to be demonized, but his soul still belongs to God. I have counseled with people who have been dedicated to Satan and abused in rituals as young as 4 years old. A parent or grandparent, however, can "curse" their children of any age.

But this is not "selling" a soul. This is a form of a curse upon the child. While we are a custodian of our soul, God is the owner of our soul.

It is a sad thing indeed when a parent curses his own child, but it does happen. The most famous case of exorcism was in 1928 in Earling, Iowa recounted in the book Begone Satan!. The woman possessed was cursed by her father because she refused his sexual demands.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
