Help? Hard addiction struggle - only losing fate Jonatan Sunday, March 9, 2008

Question:

Help? I am Porn, masturbation, game,TV/movie addict. What ever i am doing, i find a way to commit a sin. I am struggling. Maybe you won't understand, but day without porn is miracle for me.

I have to write much on computer, so I have many oportunities to check out web. Priest said that I must get more busy. Actually I am, but cose of games and other bad things I am not doing, what I have to.

I know, that I should pray, but there is a problem. Tehnically i know hov to do it, but no matter hov often I do it, after a wile it gets boring. In last days I feal that i am losing the rest of my fate. I feel really bad, I think i have a depression.

Almost every week I go to konfess in the same sins. I think the priest is getting disappointed and thinks that i am soft. I feel shame to go to church and I am thinking about not doing it, but I realise, that It would not be solution at all.

I really think, that even if you are not believer, porn, masturbation is wrong. So I went today to church and started one more week of fighting, but I am totally tired.

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM

Dear Jonatan:

I understand completely with your situation. I run a support group for people with sexual addictions. It is called the Catholic Support Group for Sexual Addiction Recovery (CSGSAR). We have more than 400 members. You are not alone. I would encourage your to join this group. It is confidential and you remain anonymous to other members. The discussions are also closed to the public; only members can participate or read posts.

There are many resources on the CSGSAR BBS to help you deal with your addiction.

You should go to confession as many times as you need. Do not let the priest's attitude dissuade you. This is between God and you and your soul is at stake.

God loves you. And there is a way out of this addiction.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
