Question: Dear Brother, About six months ago I left a Catholic group that turned out to be a cult. This "cult" was run by a priest who had many gifts and he visits my town often to conduct healings and confession. He is very close to a family here. Recently, one of these family members was in mass with me. At the sign of peace he flashed the demonic sign with the two middle fingers down and the outside fingers up. At the time, I didn't know what it was and thought nothing of it until another former member and friend of mine made a big deal about it. Since the sign was given I've had many panic attacks and a feeling of just not being "right". Could that sign cause a curse?

Unfortunately these things do happen in the Catholic Church, too, not just in the Protestant world. As for the sign and a curse we must remember that these things are not magick. A curse, in itself, as no power. Oftentimes a curse seems to have power because of the psychological effect that it has one us. In otherwords, we psych ourselves out, scare ourselves, and create psychosomatic symptoms because we think we have been "cursed" or "vexed." The "curse" in this sense is in the intimidation and psychological manipulation of another person. A true "curse" is not dependent upon us knowing about it. But, even then, what is a curse? It is the flipside, a corruption of a blessing. A blessing grants us God's favor. A curse asks for the devil's "favor". In essence what a curse may do is place us on the devil's radar so that he pays particular attention to us. A curse may bring us to be a special project of the devil. Without knowing you and knowing more about the whole situation and your spiritual history I cannot really say much about the panic attacks you had. But, speaking generally, panic attacks are just the kind of thing that we do to ourselves because of worry about what this curse may do to us. BE NOT AFRAID. Do not let these people psyche you into a self-induced frenzy. Do not give them that power. God is greater than they are, He is greater than any demon. A curse is not some special magic that will zap us. It is nothing more than a prayer to the devil asking the devil to bother us. Well, we can pray to God to ask Him to cut the demons off at the knees. 1 John 4:4 You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.
