worried about daughter | Catherine | Sunday, November 18, 2007 |
Question: Dear Brother I have a teenage daughter who goes to weekly Mass and Adoration. She has been unable to sleep at night because she says she hears a voice that tells her to harm herself .It tells her to hang herself in the back garden. She also feels like she is being choked in her bed.She sees horrible creatures in her mind and also says she sees a girl hanging in our bathroom. As a child she said she sold her soul for beauty ant attention but several months ago she confessed this and our parish priest a very orthodox and strong in the faith absolved her and told her not to worry about it any longer but to continue in the practise of her faith. I do not know what is happening to her.She has begun washing her clothes excessively too .Her bedroom wall is covered in posters of "emo" bands and I have told her to get rid of them as they would not be helping the situation.I also asked her to throw out her clothes with skulls on them. In every department store now there are clothes covered in skulls.I already have another child who has turned her back on the church. She is only 18 and no longer believes in God.She loved the church and Pope John II. I wrote to you last week but when I hit the "send" button the computer crashed for a few minutes and then turned back on . I am presuming my letter was lost so I've written again God Bless |

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM
Dear Catherine: I am not sure about your previous posting. There is a posting where you talked about your daughter (Child involved in the bad friends). The advice given there is still good about the Hedge Prayers and the Rebuking Particular Spirits. We have a new wrinkle, however, in this posting. If your daughter "sold her soul" she needs to renounce that and reclaim herself for Christ. It is not enough to confess the sin since the consequences for sin may still remain even after the sin itself has been forgiven. Your daughter needs to renounce this and reclaim the ground that she allowed Satan to take in her life. She does need to get rid of any clothing, posters, pictures, books, games, etc. that smack of anything occult or untoward. These objects can sometimes be a means for demons to attach themselves and continue to bother your daughter. Your daughter needs to live a squeaky clean Catholic life, participating in the Sacraments regularly and staying away from any thing or any person that does not uplift her faith. She MUST consider herself similar to an alcoholic. An alcoholic stays away from drinking, bars, parties with alcohol, and people who might influence him to drink. The same goes here. Because she has taken the drastic step of "offering herself" to the devil, she will be ultra-sensitive to things occultic and the like. No demon movies, witch TV shows, or anything like it. This is important if she wants to be free from the harassment. Every crumb needs to be cleaned up and kept clean or these cockroaches (demons) will come right back. The Spiritual Warfare Catalog also has bedtime prayers of protection that may help her. Also, I would advise that she go to sleep with the CD, Sleep Sound in Jesus, playing low in the background all night long. If all these various things does not bring her any relief then you may want to consider formal deliverance counseling. For your other child who has left the faith, I would suggest the prayer of a Wayward Person found in our Catalog. This prayer, based on Hosea in the Bible, asks God to place a wall around the person so that so matter which way they turn they will never find satisfaction until they come home to God. We will be praying for you and your family. God Bless,
