Dear Faith:

All human beings have a soul.

Sociopaths are people who, for one reason or another, do not have a conscience. The impairment of their conscience allows them to do things without any guilt or remorse. Such people are self-indulgent, without regard for others, and sometimes progress into extreme criminal behaviors.

The reasons for such people having no conscience is not fully understood. In some cases there is brain damage that causes this.

As for possession, sociopaths are not necessarily possessed. Their condition is a result of psychological or medical conditions. Some, such as the Night Stalker, I think were possessed. That does not mean that his sociopathy was caused by demons, however. Demons often like to hitchhike on problems that already exist. The Night Stalker may have been a sociopath already, for whatever reasons, and the demons merely took advantage of that fact.

Susan Atkins, one of the Charlie Manson murders, as another example, had no symptoms of possession that I know about, yet she was without remorse or conscience. Her chilling testimony is representative of the worldview of today:

When she was asked if she was sorry for what she had done, she replied, "What should I feel guilty for doing what was right for me?"

She was a product of the modern worldview, with brainwashing from Charlie Manson, and with probably a dash of demonic influence.

I have worked with many sociopaths when I worked in Mental hospitals. Few showed any signs of demon possession.

Bottomline: Sociopathic personalities may develop due to brain damage or disease, or severe psychological issues. Most show no signs of possession.
