Question: Hello Br., I hope you are ok after being in the hospital. I have one more queston about Yogananda. In his book, the following claim is made. What do you make of it? Could it be imagined? Exaggerated? Could it truly be from God? What to make of the claim below?: "I sat in the temple there for a week," my eldest aunt once told me. "Observing a complete fast, I prayed for the recovery of your Uncle Sarada from a chronic malady. On the seventh day I found a herb materialized in my hand! I made a brew from the leaves, and gave it to your uncle. His disease vanished at once, and has never reappeared." Thank you for your time. |

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM
Dear Bob: Thanks for your concern about my health. Your prayers are appreciated. My health problems are unfortunately chronic. I have been in the hospital twice in six months. I am hoping there will not be a recurrence. The claim made about the herb materializing in the hand falls into the same categories I talked about in the last post. Materialization like this, if true, would be supernatural. Any supernatural or miraculous events created by these people are either hoaxes, lies, or demonic. They are not of God. The herb itself may have had real medicinal effects, but its materialization in the person's hand is nonsense (hoax) at best or demonic at worst.
