Internet Spell? | Paul | Tuesday, July 31, 2007 |
Question: Is it possible for a website to cast a spell on the visitor? Just like if you visit a website that might have malicious code execute if you click on it. Can a curse or a spell theoretically be inbedded in code on a website? |

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM
Dear Paul: Well usually spells involve some physical contact (e.g., hair from a person, some other belonging, or placing substances in a person's food, etc.), curses do not need that physical connection. A curse could probably be spewed by accessing a Internet Website that seeks to curse all those who go to it. I know that a blessing can be given over the Internet, television, telephone because the Pope's blessings applies to all those who see or hear him give the blessing no matter what the medium. If a blessing can be given, a curse can too. If you find yourself on a website that looks evil, bless yourself with holy water and do not go back to that site again. That should take care of most situations like this. God Bless, For information on how to receive help see our Help page.
