Question:

Heres the story and maybe you have some advice.

Recently I have been really drawing closer to God and become active in intercessory prayer.

A little over a week ago I woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of snarling over my shoulder. It was quite scary and vivid.

Over the course of the next 8 days well lest just say the poop hit the fan. There were eight pretty major unpleasant things that happened re employment, insurance, finances, property, and worst of all many things to our son, including a car accident where she plowed in the whole drivers side of his car and immediately filed a claim agianst us.

So those are the highlights.

One thing you should know about our son Luke, is that he is a an amazing kid but has been bumbling at the crossroads a bit.

He has always brought home unloved or unwanted children asking to keep them. We help when his Dad will go along with it, and always with the sort of issues that you would expect from kids coming from that type of environment.

But the point is that is the kind of person he has always been and still is. He is doing it still. He is living in and managing our house that we renovated together, and renting it with his friends. One is probably a slacker but the rest are all kids who don't have anyone who can or will give them a hands up in life.

This house is out in the boondocks, which is why helped finance a car for Luke so he could work and go to school.

Did I mention that we had not even made the 2nd car pymt yet?

Anyhow, have been using your Prayer Catalog nonstop, and that has given me great peace.

If you have a moment to just say a small prayer over this, and if you know of anything I should do please do respond.

God bless you in all you do,

Heather

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM

Dear Heather:

We will certainly be in prayer for your family.

Whenever we make any major positive leaps in our spiritual lives, it is always possible to get spotted on the devil's radar. When that happens the devil will try his tricks and schemes to discourage us and to try to keep us from the spiritual growth that we are experiencing. His motive is also to keep us from praying, from growing, and from intimacy with God.

The key to the Christian life is perseverance. The Bible tells us to resist the devil and he will flee, but the devil does not give up easily. He will test our perseverance. Eventually, when he sees that we will not give in, he will leave and go bother someone else.

You need to keep doing what you are doing, persevere in the Faith and in your devotions and prayers and in your Catholic life. If you find yourself on the devil's radar consider it a compliment -- it means you are doing something right -- and persevere through it.

Keep your eyes on Jesus and not on the storms.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
