Strange item | anon | Friday, May 18, 2007 |
Question: Dear Brother Ignatius Mary My daughter was given a poem by a friend about two years ago .It is written about a person/event who supposedly existed but does not explain who or what they are. It ends mid sentence and nobody knows to what end this person came to .It is yet to be discovered what . My daughter kept this on her wall for a long time not paying heed to my constant appeals to remove it. About six months ago she took it down and I was elated .However this item is now in her box of collectibles.I have finally got her to agree to get rid of it several days ago but she has not handed it over and I would like to know how to dispose of it and this negative presence it has brought into the house. Since this thing has existed she has suffered anxiety ,depression and social phobia that has required specialist medical treatment. She has also lost her faith. She still comes to mass but only receives a blessing. She cannot stay during the Consecration but comes back for a Blessing .She will sometimes sit in the Adoration Chapel for half of the Mass.I could write ten pages easily and still would not finish recounting everything that has happened. Please pray for my family. |

Dear Anon: Thank you for your kind comments and knowledge that this site is helpful to people. We will certainly be in prayer for your daughter and our whole family. Since you do not give the contents of the poem I cannot have an idea as to whether this poem may have been the genesis or not of your daughter's problems. If you think there is some sort of demonic attachment to this poem and thus need to destroy it what you need to do is bless the paper with holy water, ask God to remove any curse attached to it and cast out any demonic attachment, then burn the paper until it is consumed. As for your daughter's behavior from the little information given it sounds like there may be more going on that mere teenage or childish obstinance or rebellion. Her avoidance or fear of being present during the Consecration concerns me. I would recommend, in addition to whatever your regular prayers for her are, the following prayers: Prayer for our Children Any of the other prayers in our Catalog that you think may be helpful you can add to the list. I know that it is heartbreaking for a parent to see a child like this, but you must persevere in the faith and in your prayers. A devotion to St. Monica and St. Dymphna would be advisable too. Here is a prayer to St. Dymphna:
