Question: I am writing as I need some insight into a very vivid dream I had. It is that vivid that I feel as if I was actually there. I was back in the time of Jesus, but aware that Our Lord had already Ascended. I was with 3 men, who I will assume were Apostles. We were discussing the fact that Satan was very angry with everything that had happened and that he would now send out his legions in force as a result of this. Then, this other man appeared, dressed in a white tunic with a brown leather strap tited around his waste and in a very anxious tone said " Angela, come, they need you and are waiting". I nodded and said to the 3 men I was with that we must go. I followed the messenger and there were at least 6 other men waiting on me, all dressed in white, I knew these men were Holy and came from Heaven. They said to me that 'he' was here and they were very very anxious, they said I was the only one who could face him and defeat him. I knew who they were talking about, satan, and I said I would deal with it. I entered this small cave like room where a boy no older than 12 appeared, laughing and mocking me...he said that I was going to die now for my stupidity in having faith. I was not scared of him. He began laughing in a horrible demonic sound and started speaking in some ancient tongue which I could understand? He went to attack me and I kept doing the Sign of The Cross on his forehead and face shouting out "Jesus of Divine Mercy, I trust In You!" The boy was in torment and collapsed on the floor buut was fine and I explained that by Jesus doing what He did, everything had changed now and the boys "father" knew this. The boy said he understood and denounced his father. At that point, there was satan in person, raging and cursing at me and I told him to step back from me and that he had no power over me and that his time here was limited...he replied, "I know". Then I woke up!....What does all of this mean? I didnt wake up scared. Please help me understand.

Ignatius Mary, OLSM Dear Angela: Well, the standard reply to someone who asks for dreams is for me to put a pipe in my mouth, sit back in my professorial chair, look at you in a old and wise expression, and say, "Emm, what does the dream mean to you, my dear?" :) Since I am an old man, but not wise, I will not do that; well, maybe I will. :) Dreams are usually the creative way of the brain to work out thoughts, fears, anxieties, joys, etc. of the person who dreams. Dreams can also be used of the devil to harass and by God to send a message. Ultimately it really is about how you interpret the dream for yourself. But, from my perspective, the dream seems to be reassuring your that the power of the devil is meaningless against God and that you need not fear the Enemy. I think that is the one-liner explanation. Some of the details of your dream I recognize from Church teaching or writings. Of course your dream will use the information you have stored in your memory banks. But, the central message that I can see is that the power of the devil is meaningless against God and that you need not fear the Enemy. The significance of the dream beyond that, as to why your had this dream, would be to go beyond the dream itself. I think the only safe thing to speculate as to the why is that you needed to be reassured of this message. The message is true. BE NOT AFRAID. While the devil has great power, his power is but a single drop of water in the ocean that is God's power. We need to respect the power of the devil, but not be afraid of him.
