Ability of Demons to Affect One in a State of Grace | maureen | Monday, February 7, 2005 |
Question: Hello, and thank you for your forum. I've learned much here. I returned to the Church seven years ago, thanks to Mary's intercession and a true gift of faith (including that of Jesus' Real Presence in the Eucharist), but the life I lead before that was filled with promiscuity/abortion, casual drug use, dabbling in tarot cards, and embracing the new age mentality. I've struggled with depression for the past 12 years or so, having to remain on anti-depressants to cope (depression seems to run in my family, as does suicide, child abuse and possibly homosexuality). I am plagued by scrupulosity and perfectionism. Joy? Peace? I can hardly remember the last time I experienced these emotions, although I have much to be thankful for. Recently during a meeting with a therapist, I looked to my left and saw in my mind's eye, a black/dark "thing" (almost like a cockroach) move quickly back into the corner; the walls of the corner were white in color. It then appeared to crouch down or cower. I keep myself in a state of grace thru frequent confession. I have prayed many healing prayers, including those on your sight, as well as others. My Question: can demons of my past (or those of my relatives) still be lurking around, and can they still do damage to me, even though I'm in a state of grace? Since I have no spiritual director, would something such as attendance at an Annointing Mass help me possibly? I feel the need to have someone pray over me, but the monks at the local Benedictine monastary don't do that sort of thing and our parish priest is very busy as there is no associate pastor any more to help him. Can you help me, at least to understand things better regarding my situation? God bless you. |
