Prayer for husband to be rid of colleague's influence Jane Tuesday, February 5, 2019

Question:

I am a practising Catholic. My husband is an agnostic.

Recently, a new staff member from India joined the department where my husband works. They worked closely together on quite a number of projects.

Several weeks ago, my husband asked me to buy some vegetarian food for this colleague. When I delivered the food to his office, I waited some seconds before entering after he said "Come in." His arms were crossed across his chest and he seemed to be far away. He was usually very witty but when I was making some small talk, he only said "yes" and "no." He really didn't seem to be himself. Not long after I left his office, I got a terrible headache. (Sometimes I suddenly got terrible headache when I visit some places and I try to avoid those places.) I quickly said a prayer and after a while I was fine again. But ever since then I've been uneasy.

If the colleague wants to practise his faith for his own benefit - some of his projects were hugely successful - it is his choice. The problem is he wants to be close to my husband. He has invited my husband for drinks a few times. I told my husband not to get too close to this colleague - on the ground that the colleague is a heavy drinker - but it's difficult to keep declining his invitations.

I don't want my husband to fall under this colleague's influence/control. But my husband does not believe in God. Even if I told him what I experienced in the colleague's office some weeks ago, he would not believe me. What can I do? I do want my husband to be successful in his work - as long as he is being guided and blessed by God.

Thank you.

Dear Jane:

I apologize for the LONG delay in answering your question. I glitch in our system caused me to not see your question until now. (4.6.19)

I understand your concerns about your husband and the influence his colleague may have over him. Hinduism can be very appealing to a person without God. God respects each person's free will, but there are prayers that may help the Holy Spirit to get through to your husband.

In our Spiritual Warfare Prayer Catalog, linked below, there are some prayers that may be helpful, especially:

Hedge Prayer for the Non-Christian

Hedge Prayer for Protection of Household

And perhaps: Prayer for Marriage

You should also pray for the Indian fella that he may find Christ.

If you think it would help, and if you husband would listen, I know a Bollywood (India's version of Hollywood) movie star that I could arrange a phone call. She is of the Brahman cast who converted to the Catholic Church. She is in the United States now.

In any event, our Spiritual Warfare Prayer Team will be praying for you husband, for you, and for the Indian fella.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
