Question about Diabolical Oppression Andrew Monday, August 6, 2018

Question:

Hello and thank you for your help!

I am a recently married man. During my engagement period, I told a trusted and holy priest a story that involved my fiancé (now wife) showing signs of what I thought was a spiritual attack.

During that conversation, my priest mentioned to me that while he was praying over us to bless our engagement (several months back), he sensed an oppression coming from her, and suggested that I talk to God and see if I should continue our engagement. I am not very familiar with demonology per say but I took his advice and went to prayer and mass as often as I could (attending mass 4-5 times a week during our engagement.)

I felt a strong desire to always continue our relationship and believe that God spoke to me to not abandon her. I felt that this was supported via conversations after mass, coincidence, personal words, etc and our wedding was very moving and spirit filled. I also had a lot of peace the last few days up to our wedding.

My wife is a very strong Catholic who has never waivered far from the sacraments of the church. Each day we both pray a rosary, pray together before bed, and often try to go beyond the precepts of the Church (daily mass 1-2 times a week, monthly confession, spiritual reading, volunteering with youth/service).

Today I often wonder what I should do. I know the church and an interior life protects us and our family from demons. However, I don't want to ignore a problem regarding a serious issue like diabolical oppression.

If I were to guess where my wife is being/has been spiritually attacked, I can only find a few places. She has bad back pain, she was mistreated at an old job but has never struggled to find work, she comes from a broken family (but don't we all) with a disordered father and mother role; however they are practicing Catholics, she can be frazzled/stressed easily from time to time, struggles sleeping from time to time.

I often wonder if she is attacked in one of these ways. I also honestly wonder if my priest got his discernment wrong, but I really trust him and don't believe he would say something like that without being certain.

I heartily appreciate any advice you can give us. My question is really: What would you recommend that I do?

This thought/story has been in the back of my mind for months now.

Thank you and God bless!

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r), CCD, LTh, DD, LNDC

Dear Andrew:

I apologize for the long delay in answering you.

I think you should be applauded for not abandoning your wife because of these problems, if there are any demonic problems.

Oppression is a kind of demonization where one may be attacked bodily, or through co-workers, and the other symptoms you mentioned. But, before coming to a spiritual cause, we must consider the natural human cause. All of what you described can also be explained naturally.

In spiritual warfare, since demon can also hitchhike on problems that already exist to make it worse than it would be otherwise, there is no harm in praying spiritual warfare prayers just in case. It we do that and no demons arew present, God will still give us a grace for offering the prayer of faith.

As to specifics, the history you gave of you wife may indeed be an entrypoint for demons to pay attention to her. In any event, I recommend that she (and you) go through the Seven Steps to Self-Deliverance, linked below. In addition look over our Spiritual Warfare Prayer Catalog, also linked below,

The prayers in the catalog I would especially recommend are the Hedge Prayer of Protection for your Household, for her in particular, Breaking Personal Curses and Spell, and any other of the prayers are apply to you situation.

If, after going through the Seven Steps there is no improvement, even if just a little, then she may want to contact us for a consultation or go straight to formal counseling. The Personal Consultation link is below. The formal counseling is at the bottom of the page at the HELP link

We will be praying for your wife and you.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
