Question Title Posted By Question Date
Fasting for Deliverance Chris Saturday, May 12, 2018

Question:

When deliverance does not come after a year plus for those cases where changing habits, lifestyle, embracing daily mass, adoration, praying rosaries plus Divine Mercy Chaplet, frequent novenas, daily litanies, concecrations prayer, doing works of charity, saying daily spiritual warfare prayers, daily scripture readings as well as doing bread and water fasts 2 days each week for over a year, is it time to look at an extended fast?

How long of a fast is needed for those for whom have afflictions that can only be cast out by fasting and how can one tell if this potentially applies to that person?

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r), LTh, DD

Dear Chris:

Sorry to hear of your suffering.

It sounds like you are doing all the right things, but extended fasts are not recommended as it may adversely effect your health. Normal fasts before deliverance is all that is needed.

Deliverance prayers, however, may need to be said repeatedly over a period of time. There is never a guarantee of freedom at any given time, or at all. God said "no" to St. Paul's prayer for freedom from demonic harassments (2 Cor 12:7-10). There is not a guarantee of freedom even in Church-approved exorcisms.

Sometimes we need to accept our suffering as God's will. At least, we must accept it until such time as God delivers us. We can steal the devil's thunder, who wants us to be "oh woe is me", by offering up our suffering to God and our Blessed Mother for the salvation of souls.

In our deliverance counseling, we have a step that deals with this accepting God's will.

I advise that you avail yourself with our Spiritual Warfare Prayer Catalog, linked below, and follow the Seven Steps for a Self-Deliverance, also linked below.

Another option is to ask for a consultation. You can make an appointment on our Appointment Calendar. If full deliverance counseling is needed then you can submit a Help Request for formal Counseling.

Our Spiritual Warfare Prayer Team will be praying for you.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
