Talking dog? | Anne | Saturday, March 31, 2018 |
Question: This is not a joke, and I am telling the truth. My dog talks in his sleep when he dreams. One thing that amazed me was when he said, in his sleep, "I love you so much!" Of course I say that to him all the time when he is awake. It really shocked me. I have heard dogs talk on Letterman, You tube |

Anne: It is not possible for dogs to actually talk. They do not have the anatomical structures necessary for human speech. They can make various sounds that our brains perceive as words, but they are not actual words. Our brains seek order. Thus, when we see something like a cloud we may see a elephant. Another person looking at the same cloud may see a giraffe. What we think we hear can also be affected by emotional needs and subconscious desires. I suspect the reason that you interpret your dogs sounds as "I love you so much" is that you love your dog and you would like him to say that back to you if he could.
