Question: Hello Brother, Just after proclaiming my definitive profession as a discalced secular Carmelite, and a couple of days after, I learn about this. In lay terms I went from a high to a very low. Here is the story:
My question is that I am very very fearful for the unborn baby and my grandson (he is not involved). At this point I can only pray for protection of the baby, my grandson and that whole family. My grandson, the youngest girl who is pregnant and the baby once born will be living in the granny suite which was the place where the son took his life. My question is this: can this unborn baby be more susceptible to evil spirits because of the vulnerability? Is there great danger for this unborn who has not given consent but involved nevertheless as it is still in utero? She is 6 months pregnant at this point. Because of its innocence, would the evil one take advantage of this and cause harm? My heart is broken beyond telling. Any advice would be appreciated. I have not been at the house since September and cannot foresee going any time soon. My grandson tells his mother all of this, my grandson to my daughter. There is a baby shower in a couple of weeks. My grandson also asked his mother if the baby could be baptized (which is an answer to prayer...but a small miracle that my grandson would think of this as he does not go to church). Any help with this would be so much appreciated.

Dear Shoshana: You are correct, of course, that the spirits or voices heard from the Ouija board are not the mother's son. Her son is gone and is in the arms of God. She needs to know that she is playing with Satan by these activities and is not in contact with her son. In as much as you can, encourage her to see this. You cannot nag her about it, but encourage and suggest when you can. Pray that she will realize the truth of her activities and that her son is with God now. As to the granny suite, it is not likely that any evil spirits are there becauise of the suicide, but it is possible. The suite needs to be blessed by a priest. Again, you will need to encourage this so that the mother realizes that her son is not there and neither is his voice. It is only demons. If God were to allow her son to appear or to speak to her, which would never happen via the occult device of a Ouija board or through a psychic (both of which is a grave sin against the First Commandment), having the place blessed would not cause the son to leave. Why would that be? Only a demon would exist when the place is blessed. This causes me to believe that the mother knows that this is not really her son, but she does not want to let go anyway. The baby can come under attack from demons because of the mother's and the others thinking and acting upon occult means. The baby would see this growing up and be inculcated into occult thinking himself thereby making him vulnerable. The baptism contains a simple exorcism, but the danger is what this child will learn from his mother, aunt, and grandmother. There are prayers in the Prayer Catalog, linked below, that will help. There is a prayer for a wayward Catholic, and proxy prayers, and others that you can pray on their behalf. The bottomline is to encourage everyone to accept the truth about all this, get the dwelling blessed by a priest, the baby baptized, and the home a Catholic home so the child will grow up thinking and behaving like a Catholic. This is the best way to avoid demonic attachments. Since you are a grandparent, your grandson's family is part of your household. As such, you have spiritual authority to pray for your family. That, in conjunction to our Prayer Team praying for you, will hopefully help to resolve this. We will be praying for this whole family, and especially for the baby and his mother.
