Is my inlaws' house haunted? | Leigh | Monday, January 3, 2005 |
Question: Dear Brother Ignatius, Thank you for your reply to my previous post. It is a Godsend! It feels like a ton of bricks has been lifted off my shoulders! I considered consulting my parish priest, but with the way things are today, I presumed that he would have told me to see a psychiatrist/psychologist. I have another situation that is bothering me. It regards my in-laws' house. Every time we stay there we sense evil. The worst time happened 5 years ago, the day before we left. Previous days had been fraught with tension between my husband and his sister. Around 1am, my daughter (then 12), unable to sleep, crept into the den, next to her bedroom, to use the computer. She heard her grandmother walking down the hall. Worried that she would be in trouble for being up so late, she turned off the computer and hid. As she crept back to her room, she heard her grandmother open the front door, letting people into the house. Creeping to the upstairs foyer, she noticed that the flower arrangement in the downstairs foyer had been replaced by a candle. She then saw flashing red lights coming from the kitchen and heard chanting in a foreign language. Terrified, she crept to her bedroom. At some point she saw an entity with glowing red eyes with markings on his head. She prayed to Jesus and it left. Still afraid, she propped a chair against the door and kept the lights on. At this same time, in the basement bedroom, my husband and I were unable to sleep. At one point my husband said, "What's that? It must be my mother walking around to see if we are asleep." Awhile later I was gasping for air. It felt like I was being strangled to death! When we arrived home we were a shambles. It took 2 months to recover. My question is, what is going on in this house? This is one incident of many. I have told my husband that I won't stay there again. He agrees that something is wrong. He thinks the house is haunted. I think there is something more to it. Please advise. |

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM
Dear Leigh: I praise God that our Q&A has been helpful to you. I guess my question is what did your daughter witness with the grandmother letting people into the house and what was the grandmother doing? That may be a key to the experiences you describe. If the Grandmother was involved in some sort of Satanic or occult ritual and worship, then it would explain what your daughter saw and the experiences of yourself and your husband. In this case, it is not so much a haunting in the usual sense, rather demonic visitors brought in by the grandmother's ritual. If the grandmother is into Satanism or any other occult stuff, it will be important for you and your family to pray the prayers of Renouncement of Ancestral Sins; and I would never visit her house again. Pray for her. We are praying for you and your family. God Bless, For information on how to receive help see our Help page.
