Is it the norm to have these demon attacks? Anne Tuesday, December 6, 2016

Question:

I don't want you to get the wrong impression, but I was wondering if it is the "norm" to always experience spiritual attacks? I know I don't seem to have any (thank God) and hope I never will. Maybe I had in the past, but did not recognize it.

I suffer when I hear of the terrible things happening in the world. I have been in counseling because of what my counselor calls tenderheartedness. I also feel awful that animals are abused in some cultures, and I am wishing I can do more to help them, but it is a global problem. (My counselor is Catholic.)

My so-called "tenderheartedness" has been taken for depression. I'm not sure if it is or not.

I doubt that demons have anything to do with it because I am motivated to help in anyway I can, and that is not what the devil wants.

Question Answered by

Dear Anne:

We all receive spiritual attacks in terms of temptations. This is the human condition as we all have temptations sourced in our concupiscence (human nature) or from the evil one inspiring them.

As for other specific attacks, not everyone experiences them. Your "tenderheartedness" is a part of your personality, and not a demonic attack. You are doing the right thing in seeing a counselor if this tenderheartedness is causing your anxiety.

I would suggest you have nothing to fear. Be who you are. It is a gift from God to be affected by the knowledge of all the terrible things in the world. Use that to pray for the people and nations involved. This can be a prayer ministry for you.

Although I do not have the level of tenderheartedness that you describe, I find myself tearing up when I see or read stories of people suffering. This is as it should be as we are to have compassion for our fellow men, especially when they suffer.

In addition to prayer, we can help in any way we can, such as making donations to organizations that specialize in the things you are concerned about. For example, I help a child in severe poverty through an international foster child program. Such small help is an enormous gift to the child living in severe poverty. That is one small way that I help to bring something positive to the world.

You are a good-hearted person. I praise God for that.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
