Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r), CCL, LTh, DD, LNDC
Dear Preston: Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should one use automatic writing for any purposes. This is an occult technique that when used can lead to demonization and in some cases to possession. As such automatic writing, as a form of divination, is absolutely condemned in the Bible and by the Church. It is a violation of the First Commandment. The Catechism says:
Your friend is in deep trouble. There is no such thing as past lives. This is a doctrine of Satan. And, divining the future is condemned, per above. Also, no one but God knows the future. Angels and demons and people in heaven do not know the future. All spirits can do is predict the future using reasoning and knowledge of the variables. But, this will not result in 100% accuracy as only God can do that. You need to pray for your friend, but do not involve yourself in his automatic writing, even just to observe.
