FEAR-FAIL-FEAR CYCLE Martin Sunday, August 14, 2016

Question:

Hi

I am a Catholic convert but it was due to my mother's persuasion that I decided to go for Catholic baptism.

I have been struggling from a very low self esteem for the longest period of time since childhood as I was not well-off or smart enough. It became more real when I entered the workforce 15 years ago. Frankly, I do not have a strong identity in Christ either. Somehow, I cannot believe or accept the truth about God's love for me.

I became materialistic and position hungry at my workplace as it supposedly gives me the worth I am seeking for. I pushed myself hard to get what I want.

However, in recent years, I have been having alot of fears about losing my position. I cannot let go. I see everyone as someone who threatens to take my position away. It paralyses me and I am unable to even do the things which I used to be good at.

I recognise these irrational fears and have been rebuking my fears but I am still attacked by them day in and out. I became extremely exhausted and I cannot seem to get out of this FEAR-FAIL-FEAR cycle. I cannot sleep well at nights for the past 2 years of my life.

What can I do? Please advise.

Dear Martin:

From your narrative most of what you speak would benefit from normal counseling. I would suggest that you seek those counseling services that are available to you. Places like Catholic Charities and Lutheran Social Services offer counseling services on a sliding-scale.

On the spiritual side, you may also be under a spiritual attack. It is not unusual for evil spirits to hitchhike on problems that already exist. On the spiritual side, I advise going through our Seven Steps to Self Deliverance, linked below, and also use our Spiritual Warfare Prayer Catalog, also linked below.

But, I would as a first line of attack, seek our counseling. See if therapy will help. If, over time, there is no relief at all from therapy, then perhaps the problem is spiritual, in which we may be able to help. First, try the counseling route.

You will be included in the intentions for our prayer team, which are specially trained in spiritual warfare prayer.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
