Christian Authors and Prayer Books Crystal Sunday, April 5, 2015

Question:

Dear Brother,

I have a lot of Christian books by various authors. However I noticed that with some, when reciting certain prayers; I've felt somewhat strange whereas I've become lightheaded, nervous and more.

For example, I had purchased a book called "Bible Prayers for All Your Needs" in 2007. The prayers in the book were lovely, but I always noticed that after saying these prayers, some kind of misfortune would take place and the majority of times it would happen to my Mother.

I didn't really have that much concern about some of things that happened, and I eventually threw the book away as it got old whereas the pages became discolored and also had book mites.

I recently re-purchased it again online and began to read the prayers daily, but the same things reoccurred. For instance, I was reading a few prayers in this book one night and my Mother was fine the whole day, however the following day she had terrible stomach pains that came out of nowhere.

On another occasion, after reading a section on the "Protection Prayers", my Mom and I went whereas we had taken a taxi and she had a small shopping cart with her that needed to go into the trunk of the car. As she handed the shopping cart to the taxi driver to put inside the trunk of his car; he accidentally shut the trunk on top of hand, whereas she had to get stitches and it to months to heal.

With the first book I purchased several years ago and the new one, I've also experienced minor accidents, bad headaches and also had occasional arguments with other people after reading prayers from this book.

I still have this book and I want to discard because I don't know if it has any bad spiritual entities attached to it or could it just be Satan interfering with my reading of Christian literature.

I also had the same experience with other popular books by Christian Authors and stopped reading them as I always felt strange afterwards too.

I will just say Catholic Daily Prayers from now on, but what can I do to get rid of some of the Christian books I have and can I just throw them away; as I don't want to feel strange in reading them any longer.

I also wanted your opinion on an author Marianne Williamson. She writes lovely prayers but, many people feel that she is of the New Age movement. I don't really know that much about her, but one of her prayers was included on a Catholic website as part of their healing prayers.

If you could give me your opinion on this, I would be grateful.

Thank you,
God Bless,
Crystal

Dear Crystal:

I doubt if there is anything paranormal going on when you read these books. As I have mentioned to you many, many times, these events you describe are most probably coincidence. In addition, Crystal, there is most likely a psychological factor here.

With that said, it is always best to stick to the Catholic Prayers, but prayers from Protestants are not likely to contain any demonic attachment, unless it is coming from some wacko group perhaps.

Nevertheless, if you suspect anything, you can bless the book with holy water and then destroy it (like burning it). See our Procedure to Destroy Occultic or Cursed Objects.

As for Marianne Williamson, under no circumstance should a Christian read her books. She basis her teachings and writings on A Course in Miracles. This series of books are completely hostile to Christianity and are part of New Age false spirituality.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
