Question Title Posted By Question Date
Items with Aztec images Alex Sunday, January 25, 2015

Question:

Hi. I have a clock given to me by my mother from Mexico which has Aztec images on it. I also have a t-shirt from Mexico with, what I believe has a picture of Quetzalcoatl, the feathered serpent.

I was wondering if I should return these items to my mother or destroy them, due to the pagan imagery, and if a curse could come upon me for having such items in my possession. I read in a Protestant book once that having anything related to false religion or the occult could bring on curses, so I wanted to verify if that is true. Thank you for your help.

Dear Alex:

Please forgive the long delay in answering your question.

Keep in mind that many Protestant ideas about things like this are not accurate. Having Aztec artwork in-and-of-itself is not a problem. Caution comes sometimes on where the item was purchased. If it was purchased in a regular store there is not like to be a problem. If it was purchased from a street vendor then it is possible that the seller or artist could have done something, but even that is not likely. Remember that God is more powerful than any curse or hex. Most curses and hexes do not work and often then boomerang back on the curse-caster.

In any event, bless the clock with Holy Water and you should be fine.

The T-shirt, on the other hand, is a personal billboard. To well it might give people the idea that you support Aztec religion. I would bless the T-Shirt with Holy Water, rip it in two, and discard it.

If you are concerned, after blessing the clock, take it apart and discard it. Ripping the T-Shirt or taking apart the clock removes any curse or hex as the item no longer resembles what it was.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
