What should I do about my school? | Isaac | Tuesday, September 23, 2014 |
Question: I have a catholic [high] school that is not very Catholic... I am a new freshman thsi year. The school is EXTREMELY secular. No confession is offered, ever, and the students are only required to attend mass once a month. The theology teacher claimed that many stories in the Bible are just made up. And the horrible "Catholic Youth Bible, NAB version" we are given for those classes have one commentary that claims satan is an angel of God, and another that claims that praying the psalms to God and praying to the rising sun is the same. Now, way too early for Haloween, skeletons ghosts and zombies(the creepy realistic type) and demon figures fill the hallways. I have been waging BRUTAL spiritual war. But I am getting heavy spiritual, verbal, political, and cultural resistance. What should I do? Do you have any advice? Should I write to [the] Bishop? Thanks |

Dear Isaac: It is difficult to wage spiritual warfare iF you yourself express lies. The demons you are fighting will know of your sin. You stated you were 18 years old, since that is the minimum age to be allowed to ask a question, yet, you are a Freshmen in High School? Unless you were held bck for four years or the like, I doubt if you are 18 yers old. Should there be a next time ask an adult to ask the question for you. You can fool me, but you cannot fool the demons and that should be your concern. Anyway, you need to file a formal complaint in writing to your Principal about your concerns. The letter should be business-like, no emotion, and you need to list your concerns, explain the reasons for your concerns, and support your view with Church teaching and with reasoned argument. If the Pincipal does not respond favorably, then write a letter to the School Board. Be sure to include your letter to the Principal and his response. If he responds verbally, then take accurate notes on what he said and include that in your letter to the School Board. If you do not get a favorable response of the School Board, you might appeal to them in person at a school board meeting, but if the response is negative, then write a letter to the bishop, with copies of all correspondence and/or notes with the Principle and School Board. If the bishop does nothing to solve the problems then you will have to accept that, fight the good fight of truth in your personal life, accept the attacks against you as the wounds of Christ, lift up your suffering for the conversion of the teachers and administration, and persevere in the faith. We will be praying for you. God Bless, For information on how to receive help see our Help page. We suggest that before contacting us directly for help you try the Seven Steps to Self-Deliverance.
