Is the strange activity from my loved one? Sophie Wednesday, August 20, 2014

Question:

I just returned home from a visit at my moms. My Nana (who was a woman who my parents cared for but not biologically related), had lived with them but passed away 1.5 yrs ago.

My parents were not home for the first couple days of my visit and strange occurences happened. The curling iron was plugged back in, and turned on when I returned home. (It has an auto shut off feature, should it get left on). I simply thought I left it plugged in, and unplugged it. After going out again, and returning home, it was plugged in again, although not on. Whenever I would skype my husband late at night, there was windy noise over the internet. Both of us thought it was coming from each other's location. We would disconnect, yet neither could hear anything. Upon reconnecting it would be silent, then start again. Whistling could sometimes be heard too. I also smelled perfume in the room one night when returning home. I tested the skype one morning after my parents came back, with someone else, but it was silent. Also the screen went bonkers one night when skyping my husband. Sure, easy to think an odd occurrence when just one thing, but all together I was starting to wonder.

My Nana died in the house, I'm not sure she was baptized, I did say prayers with her and bless her with holy water the last time I saw her alive though. The room I sleep in was her sitting room. I brought this up to my parents, my mother said she is sure that Nan's spirit never left the house.

I am Catholic, my parents are not, and unfortunately not attending any church at this time. Someone suggested perhaps as it was harmless things, she wanted something, or was just letting me know she was watching over me. I was not sure about this. But when sitting on the bed one day, I did talk out loud to my Nana and ask her what she wanted, and ask for proof it was her. I did not receive it, and now after finding this forum, I am really wishing I hadn't!!

Every night when I went to bed, I usually fell asleep saying my prayers. The last night there though, I woke in the middle of the night to feel my bed vibrating and it was going through my body as well. It stopped soon after I woke, and I wondered if I was dreaming. I was freaked out, and wanted to just leave my parents right then and there.

Can you please shed some light on this? I will visit the prayer pages while I wait a response. I had forgotten my holy water, which I usually travel with too. I wished I had some then. I have since blessed myself with some and thinking reconciliation? Thanks in advance.

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r), LTh, DD

Dear Sophie:

It is hard to make an analysis with so little information, but what you're describing certainly does sound like paranormal/demonic attacks. Why that's the case, I would have to interview you to make any determination on that. If you wish you may make an appointment to discuss these matters over the phone. If you click on the Help link at the bottom this page it take you to another page where you will see an option for a 0ne-Time Phone Consultation.

I can certainly say that the first defense against any demonological problems is the worship and faith in God. You say you have not been attending Holy Mass. Failure to attend to the Sacraments of Confession and the Holy Mass makes you much more vulnerable to demonic attack. It is like leaving your front door unlocked.

Thus, the first thing you need to do is to go to Confession and then attend Holy Mass. Second, the need to live the prayerful daily life that a good Catholic should live. Third, you can avail yourself to the spiritual warfare prayers that are included in our Catalog, linked below.

Without knowing a lot more information this is about as much as I can advise you at this time.

We will be praying for you.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
