Question: Dear Bro., thank you in advance for some guidance. I have what may be an unusual question. My child has suffered from depression for many years now. He of course is under medical care and has been for years, pretty much holding his own. Trouble seemed to start a year ago with his marriage and job situation with he and spouse. Long story short, shortly before he had a complete breakdown, there were what they and even my grandchildren related from time to time were strange occurrences in the house: etc. Since then their situation has seemed in some respects to improve, but now his spouse is sometimes behaving very irrationally as well. They do go to Mass but not always as he tells me he has a great fear of Church. He tries and sometimes has to leave because of the fear. The children from time to time have also been having nightmares of Demons and such. Youngest granddaughter (7) told me a while back that she had a dream about a Devil trying to get into Mommy, and she was trying and trying to pull him out, but couldn't as he was too strong. (she was very upset by this nightmare btw) Also my grandson told me just very recently he had a dream that his family was in hell and he was trying to get everyone out of there. This all being said, I know that depression is depression and is a MEDICAL condition having nothing to do with demon activity, but the rest of the family seems to be going through some kind of harassment. Of course you can probably rule out possession but here is my question: Could something like depression also attract more pronounced demon activity? Maybe because one is weakened from it? Could this also be affecting the family in this way? I have questioned this from time to time but always dismissed it because of the illness, but now that the rest of the family seems to be increasingly affected, I am really starting to wonder if there could be more going on? These 'occurrences' are increasing. I am now beginning to be concerned of some kind of evil that is harassing them. Thanks for your input. God Bless you for all you do.

Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r), CCL, LTh, DD, LNDC Dear Marie: I cannot give a diagnosis without talking with your son, but the phenomena you describe, banging noises in the middle of the night, someone knocking on the door but no one there, the dreams of the kids, and the like, are indicative of possible demonic harassment. Demons most often do not create problems but hitchhike on problems that already exist. It is certainly possible that your son's clinical depression may have attracted demons as that can make him vulnerable. There is a demon of depression that can target him specifically. I would advise that you suggest to your son that he and his wife go through the Seven Steps to Self-Deliverance, linked below.
