My mother's addiction in mahjong Cathy Monday, May 26, 2014

Question:

Dear Bro. Ignatius Mary,

Thank you for your generosity in sharing the 7 steps self-deliverance to everyone, which is a great help to me. May God reward you for your great apostolate work!

Actually I just found something wrong with my family. My mother had 2 abortions after my brith, and now she has retired and she is quite indulged in mahjong. The doctor told her that it's bad for her health, but she just wouldn't listen. Even when she was not physically available, she would sit at the mahjong table, which will make her feel better. She was spoiled by her mother, and is psychologically immature, and she is quite attached to me. she has a bad temper and quite self-centered.

My question is, what's happening with my mother? How can I help her?

Thanks.

Dear Cathy:

There is nothing inherently wrong with the game Mahjong. Addiction to anything, including playing games, can be a problem. If your mother's doctor suggest she shouldn't play for her health, then she ought to follow that advice.

I have no idea what is happening to your mother. This does not appear to have anything to do with spiritual warfare per se, but is a problem of addiction to playing Mahjong.

You need to pray for her to listen to her doctor and to stop playing Mahjong, that is, to be healed of any addiction. Here is a prayer about addiction:

Dear Heavenly Father. You have told us in Your Word that those who set their minds on things of the flesh cannot please God, are hostile to God, and leads to death (Ro. 8:5-8) . I now bring _____________ to you whose mind has been set on things of the flesh, in the form of addiction to ______, ______, ______ [drugs, alcohol, tobacco, food, gossip, judgmentalism, whtever games, sex, etc.] that wage war against his soul (1 Pet. 2:11). ______________ has transgressed Your holy law and given the enemy an opportunity to wage war in his members (Eph. 4:27; Ja. 4:1; 1 Pet. 5:8). Indeed You have said that it is better to cut out our eye if it makes us stumble than to burn in hell (Matt. 5:29-30). I come before Your presence to ask your Holy Spirit to inspire ____________ to acknowledge these sins and to seek Your cleansing (1 Jn. 1:9) that he may be freed from the bondage of sin (Gal. 5:1). I thank You Lord for your love and mercy that you have for _________. I now ask You to reveal to _________ mind the ways that he has brought himself to this addiction and therefore grieved the Holy Spirit. So that _______ may find healing and freedom I ask You Lord that all ground gained by evil spirits because of ________ addictions be canceled and taken back and that all bonds and bondages the devil has placed upon ______ be broken forever (Gal. 5:1). I pray that You will shed light on all ________ ways that he may know the full extent of his addiction. I claim ________ body and mind for the Lord Jesus Christ, and in His Name, and with His authority, on _______ behalf, declare freedom from his addictions of ______, _____, _____ and to all attachments, bondages, and involvements with the enemies of the Lord Jesus Christ.  I now pray that _______ will choose to adopt a spirit of freedom from addictions and a heart given over to You. In the name of Christ Jesus I pray. Amen.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
