Should I be concerned Josefina Wednesday, August 14, 2013

Question:

I was once involved in the occult. I got rid of the hardware, at the same time I am still dealing with some things from my involvement.

At the same type, I stupidly told a co worker of my actions, my coworkers family is still involved in the occult. My co worker keeps on asking me about I feel, that maybe I should look this occult practice as just as any other religion, for instance Catholics have saints, etc...I responded by stating my faith is in one true GoD, I do no believe in casting spells, worrying about consulting with fortune tellers etc.

Since I have left all occult practice, which is pretty recently, I have had friends that I have not been in contact with in a long time, off the bat call me up talk about their involvement in the occult, how its not not that bad?

I am learning to stand firm in my faith, as well as learning to better deal with these "darts"...are these situations common to individuals going through warfare?

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r), CCL, LTh, DD, LNDC

Dear Josefina:

I praise God that you have left this devilish involvement. There are many graces God will grant you to live and be strengthened in your new life.

It is not unusual when someone leaves the occult for "old" friends, or even new "friends", who are involved in the occult, to suddenly pop up. Satan has informed these people that you are a wayward goat and he is sending them to you to try to persuade you to return.

When leaving the occult, you need to do more than get rid of hardware, books, games, paraphernalia and whatnot, and stay away from movies or TV shows with an occult, ghost, or demon themes, you also must get rid of friends whom you knew in the occult. This is the same reasoning as a former drug addict terminating relationships with his druggie friends.

In as much as is possible avoid anyone who is even remotely in the occult, and that means even those who follow relatively trivial activities such as the horoscopes and the like. All such people will be for you a potential trap, a toxic dart, that you do not need in your life.

As for the co-worker, you may not be able to avoid that person, but you can tell her that you are now following your Catholic faith and have left all that occult stuff behind. Tell her that you do not wish to talk about it and to please stop discussing the subject with you. If she will not respect that, then you may have to tell her very firmly.

It is wise for you to remember that such people will have no problems casting spells and curses. In fact, you ought to expect it. Thus, look in our Spiritual Warfare Prayer Catalog, linked below, for prayers to break spells and curses. Pray the Hedge Prayer of Protection daily. Pray any of the other prayers as needed.

Also, be sure to not accept any food or gifts from anyone in the occult. Do not allow them into your house and be sure they have no access to your hair brush or other personal items.

Remember that Christ is more powerful than these people or their lord, the devil.

The Seven Steps to Self-Deliverance would be good for you to do, too. Live and practice your faith as best you can. On the Q&A form you said that you are "Catholic but separated from Rome." You need to correct that. Get in full communion with Rome. Fix the impediments, whatever they are. As long as you are not in full communion, you are more vulnerable to demonic attack and have less protection.

You need to be in full communion as to receive the Sacrament of Confession and to receive our Lord in the Eucharist. Those two Sacraments alone are significant deliverances and significant protection.

We will be praying for you.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
