Dear Zachary: It is likely that this experience is nothing more than a natural phenomenon called Cataleptic somnambulism if these experiences are happening in the twilight moments of just walking up. I discuss this in a previous Q&A. The most probably reason it is in your current dream may be that you are experiencing some anxiety perhaps. Those images from childhood are thus re-appearing in the dreams. These experiences can also have a demonic element, as demons always love to exploit our vulnerabilities. If you have had paranormal phenomena in your house, then that increasing the chances that you dreams now, and perhaps your experiences in childhood, have a demonic element. The defense against demonic harassments begins with a profession of faith in Christ and valid baptism. Christ is the only real deliverer. With that as a foundation, then the Seven Steps to Self-Deliverance, and the Spiritual Warfare Prayer Catalog, both linked below, are useful in dealing with these matters. I am sorry to see that you identified yourself as Unitarian Universalist. This group is not Christian and does not have a valid baptism. They may claim to be Christian, but they are not. In the bible Jesus speaks about people who claim to be Christian but are not. If you are not baptized, or were baptized by the Unitarian Universalist, then you are not technically a Christian. As a result of adhering to a non-Christian belief system, especially if not validly baptized, protection from demonic harassment is far more limited as you do not have the protective graces God accords to validly baptized persons. I would advise you to seek a legitimate Church, preferably the Catholic Church, since she alone is the only True Church in the fullness of the Faith that was founded by Christ personally. But, any valid non-Catholic Church will give you access to graces accorded to validly baptized persons. For any group to be legitimately Christian, they must have valid baptism. Valid baptism must be done with water, either poured over the skin, or by immersion. The formula, "In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit" must be done. Any group that does not believe in the Trinity, properly defined, and has proper baptism in the name of the Trinity, is not Christian no matter how loudly they claim they are. Doctrinally, a valid Christian must believe at least in the tenets of the Ten Commandments, the Apostles Creed, and the moral teachings of Christ and His Apostles. Groups that are not Christian include the Mormans, Jehovah Witness, One Holy Pentecostal, some other Pentecostals and various other groups who deny the Trinity. You can still do the Seven Steps and use the Catalog prayers. God may honor your pleas even if you are not interested in becoming a Christian. God loves all His children. God Bless,
