Question: Thank you for you reply to my last question regarding my sister. Since then, I've remembered that she has mentioned seeing a ghost on at least two different occasions. I've read that you believe that most ghosts are really demonic manifestations, and I was wondering if the fact that she's had those two ghost experiences (before moving to that apartment) indicates that she is in need of more help. I'll briefly describe her ghost experiences. Once, she was at college, in the stacks at a library that was widely believed to be haunted (someone was stabbed there many years ago). She was in an aisle looking for a book when she saw a woman out of the corner of her eye approach as if to walk behind her. When my sister turned around, expecting to see her on the other side of her, the person was gone. She was so scared that she had to leave the library. Another time, she was at my parents' house, sitting in a chair that has a view of our hallway. She looked down the hall to see a ghost of just someone's legs walking across the hall, from one room to the opposite room. Somehow she knew that it was our deceased grandfather. If she is attracting demonic manifestations, please let me know how best to help her.
Question Answered by Dear Marie: The primary question at the moment is, "Is she experiencing these things now?" If not, then perhaps this will be all in the past. To better ensure this will stay in the past she needs to follow the Seven Steps to Self-Deliverance, linked below. There are prayers you can pray on her behalf found in our Spiritual Warfare Prayer Catalog, also linked below. As one preacher once said, "the best way to keep the devil out, is to keep God in." She needs to live the good Christian life in the best way she knows how. She needs to be devout, participate in the Sacraments, and work to live a virtuous life. This alone can provide protection. Then, prayers like the Hedge Prayer of Protection, and other prayers found in our Catalog should be prayed, and also following the Seven Steps. I would advise her do the seven steps and to daily pray the Hedge Prayers even if there is no active phenomena taking place right now. If any entity appears, then the Rebuking Prayer is needed.
