Questions I long for an answer :) Jane Monday, February 25, 2013

Question:

Hi. There is a phew questions I would like to ask that been on my mind for a long time.

1) why is it that others can sense ghost and others can't? My sister and dad can sense ghost but me and my mum can't.

2) When I was little about seven. My parents broke up at that time and my mum's dad's sister passed away too. Me and my sister shared bedroom together. The bedroom light was off but the hall way light was on. My bed was beside my sister's bed. One night I woke up and I saw this shadow human shape figure by the door. I looked at it and I knew it was looking at me. Even though I couldn't see any details on his face. I think it got scared and it sweep under my sisters bed. I ran out telling my mum I saw a ghost. I slept on the sofa that night.

3) my grandad passed away last year. 88 years old. On the night he passed away. I was at home with my sister and mum and her brothers plus my grandma were at the hospital. I rang up mum not knowing he passed away then. How granddad was doing. She just told me to find a pray to pray for. So I went on the net and try to find a pray. I didnt got any results. So I pray to God and found a perfect pray for my grandad. I then felt a warm feeling behind me. Like someone was standing there. So I turn around and say "Is that you grandad or Holy Spirit?" I pray to God to say thank you for finding me the pray. Then the warm feeling behind me went away.

3) I went to see my granddad grave last week. I just chat to him and say how the family is not the same without you and we miss you. I then felt a floatly feeling beneath my feet. I step back and after I was done talking. I felt this huge weight off my shoulders. I don't know what it was but it felt good.

So those are my questions if you don't mind answering :)

Have a good day

God bless

Jane

Question Answered by

Dear Jane:

1. Well, Jane, most ghosts are demons. They can appear to whomever they wish. For "ghosts" who are not demons, they can appear to anyone God chooses. (see the essay, Seven Kinds of Ghosts, for details about the kinds of ghosts).

In addition to this, there are two other ways in which one may perceive the presence of ghost. The first is through our ordinary intuitive senses and God has given everyone.  This is especially keen in those who are baptized because all baptized persons have the Holy Spirit within them who can inform a person of a ghostly presence. This is done at the discretion of the Holy Spirit.

The second method of perception is to those whom God has given the supernatural Gift of the Spirit of discernment. This is a charism gift. Each of us has at least one charism gift. (See the chart of charism gifts in the essay, Charism Gifts Building Up the Church).

2. The experience you describe sounds like a typical paranormal event of a demon present in your room. Often demons appear in shadow form. Such experiences are rather common. Without knowing details there is no way for me to speculate on why this happened.

3. I am sorry for the loss of your grandfather. As mentioned in the Seven Kinds of Ghosts, it is not uncommon for a loved one who has just died to visit a family member or members. This is sort of a final goodbye and a comfort to let you know that your loved one is okay.

As for finding the prayer for your granddad, God does that sort of thing when we ask Him. Praise God that He is the perfect Father.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
