Deliverance Rebuke Thomas Saturday, February 2, 2013

Question:

I've been having a demon/spirit harrassing problem. I talked to a pastor from a non-denominational Christian church who specializes in deliverance. He rebuked the spirit, and then told me to rebuke it once, in a prayer, 'to go back to the pit', etc. After that, things seem to have gotten worse/more intense. Was this a bad idea? Was the rebuking, from the pastor, or from me, what made it worse?

I can't find any Catholic Priests who practice deliverance, and cannot wait for there to be an opening in your program.

Dear Thomas:

Sorry about the delay in responding.

We will be praying for you, that you may find healing and deliverance.

As a Catholic, you need to be very careful about going to a non-Catholic deliverance minister. There are some differences in approach and sometimes even in theology; it depends on the deliverance minister. Some non-Catholic deliverance ministers, such as Bob Larson's ministry has actually told Catholics that they must renounce the "demon of Catholicism" in order to be delivered. His ministry also charges for exorcisms. This is profoundly unethical and evil. Any exorcist or deliverance minister who charges, or any who make a public show of it, should be avoided completely — not walk, but run, far away from anyone who charges for exorcism or deliverance, or who makes it a show.

With that said, it is often the case that harassment will get worse before it gets better. The demons are not going to let go of you. Deliverance is a process that takes months, it usually will not be effective just to have a pray or two said for you.

One of the most damaging delusions that the demons will seduce you to believe is that you cannot wait. I tell my clients who express such desperation and impatience that the demons will not be allowed to set the agenda nor the time table. I decide the agenda and the schedule.

The reason that demons will seduce you into this false notion that you cannot wait is in hopes that you will do something stupid in your impatience. This impatience has lead many people to even go to shamans and psychics and witches to desperately attempt to be delivered. This only makes the demonization more intense and harder to heal.

You can wait if that is what is necessary. In the meantime you can work through the Seven Steps to Self-Deliverance, linked below, and use prayers in the Spiritual Warfare Prayer Catalog, also linked below.

You can also request a one-time appointment by going to our Appointment Calendar and signing up for an available appointment slot.

Patience and perseverance is the key to the Christian life in general and is especially critical in spiritual warfare.

We are praying for you.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
