Question: I have a concern and I believe Satan is listening to my prayers to God. I have been tormented with to the point of despair and it seems Satan knows what to do or say to make me spiritually panic. I have been going to confession every week after not going to church for three years. I have survivor guilt and I have been abused sexually physically and spiritually. I just keep confessing all the bad thoughts and memories but now I sound like a broken record. I was so upset and heard a voice say this evening I dont deserve to eat and my throat closed up so I loose my appetite. I am writing this because I experienced this before durring abuse. I also want to self harm or punish my self I really need to know what is going on and how to handle this I pray the rosary and divine mercy twice a day. I have been doing online adoration too sometimes and other prayers. I confess my sins weekly yet I feel no freedom from these tormenting temptation I have asked God to let me die for this is too overwhelming. What should I do? I willed to forgive everyone who has hurt me. Lord Jesus Have mercy on me a sinner and on the whole world.
Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r) Dear Teresa: I know you are hurting. You need to follow the advice I gave you in the Faith and Spirituality Q&A. You need to immediately see a mental health professional to deal with the PTSD. On the spiritual level, the devil cannot hear your prayers to God. In terms of confession, once you have confessed your sins, those sins no longer exist, God remember's them no more. God promises in 1 John 1:9 ~ "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness." God is not a liar, He keeps His promises, and He keeps this promise. After Confession, say you penance, then pray this prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, strengthened by the intercession of the Immaculate Virgin Mary, Mother of God, of Blessed Michael the Archangel, of the Blessed Apostles Peter and Paul, and all the Saints and Angels in Heaven, and powerful in the holy authority if His Name, I cancel all ground that evil spirits have gained through my willful involvement in sin. I reclaim that ground and my life for Christ. Amen. I also recommend the following prayers: Hedge Prayer for Protection of Self Prayer To Control Thoughts Priestly Prayer of Deliverance (listen to this deliverance prayer by a priest, and join your intentions with this prayer). Ten Thousand Angels (This is a Prayer Song. Listen to it as often as you need. It will help you.) And go through the Seven Steps to Self-Deliverance that I mentioned in your other question. As for harassments and voices and such, you need to rebuke these voices and evil spirits each and every time they bother you. If they bother you 50 times a day, then rebuke them 50 times a day.
