Defense Prayers for Mayan date 12-21-2012 Caterina Wednesday, December 19, 2012

Question:

My concern was about the new age rituals that some of the 2012 fans plan to hold.

There seems to be a 2012 'movement' orchestrated by numerous prominent new-agers that has been building up for more than a decade -- ever since Y2K failed to pan out. I suspect that this impetus is demonic.

Just about every current affairs message board I have visited this past week has at least one thread with people swapping home-grown pagan rites and 'meditations' for the 21st. My worry was that these rituals, which are likely to engage with real demons (and not the superstition about the date), could be dangerous.

I personally believe that the main outcome of the 21st will be the discrediting of numerous 'experts' on the Mayan calendar, as well as their new-age hangers on. I agree that it is worth praying that after the disillusionment has set in, many of the 2012-ers will turn back to Christ.

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r)

Dear Caterina:

Demons are opportunistic. They have no problem exploiting man's stupidity. If these people are doing rituals and the like they increase their chances of being demonized.

I understand the concern for these people, but unless they are willing to listen to reason there is nothing you can do for them except to pray for them, but they will make their own decisions.

We do have a prayer for the unbeliever in our Spiritual Warfare Prayer Catalog, Hedge Prayer for the Non-Christian. Otherwise, pray for them generally, or say a Rosary for them, that these people will come to trust God and make a profession of faith, rather than be in fear of alleged prophecies. And, pray for them when nothing happens on the 21st. The realization that this is nothing may bring some to despair or even suicide, and place them in even greater jeopardy of demonization.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
