am I being visited by the deceased? | Julie | Sunday, December 2, 2012 |
Question: Hello- I am a strong Catholic brought up in a Catholic family. I am also an official spiritual daughter of St. Padre Pio, having been accepted through proper request from his Friary in Italy. I adhere to the rules of being his spiritual daughter, and have been blessed with even seeing and touching his glove. My family and I have had many prayers answered through the intercessions of the saints, and we are truly blessed. For almost 10 years now, I have the experience of waking up at night, and seeing apparitions of people. Usually an individual, I never know who- it could be a man, woman, even a child. I have seen them in older styled clothing, or recent day clothes. These person(s) can range from old to young. They never speak, they look at me, and after maybe 3 or 4 or 5 seconds, they disappear. They look like normal people, except they're almost a soft white. I've even had them smile at me. It used to scare me, but i'm so used to it, I don't pay much attention to it anymore. They never appear threatening or harmful. Now I have to tell you, my daughter occasionally has this same experience as me, though not as much, she is in her 20's now, and it never happened to her untill the past couple of years. And this has happened to my dad several times at his home, and once it happened to my mother, though it frightened her so badly she had chest pains for several days. One afternoon my dad did see a woman in my hallway, she looked at him as if she were surprised he could see her, and vanished. My husband has never ever experienced this, and we have been married over 25 years. I do not partake in ANY type of activity outside the catholic church. I am a very, very prayerful person, mindful of the Holy Souls as well. I read the bible, I pray, I am in touch with a number of Nuns whom pray for my family and i, and I do say prayers for those in need, many times. I read only books about Catholic religious subjects, such as books about the Saints, and I do read the Bible. I know Padre Pio was very devoted to the Holy Souls and was visited by many who needed his prayers. I pray to Padre Pio all the time, and am very embracing of Our Lord Jesus. I have blessed pictures of Jesus and the Holy Saints in my home. I do NOT want to talk to any "ghost' societies, of psychics as I think they are misguided and it would be so disrespectful to God. So, I do say my prayers for these apparitions, real or not- as I don't know for sure. and I wonder if I see them because they need prayer, or what? Can you give me any insight on what I am experiencing? I have had other experiences too, and tried to speak to a parish priest, who stopped me and bluntly and told me it was my imagination. Thank You for your reply |

Dear Julie: I moved your question to this forum since it more properly belong here as it is about other-worldly apparitions. __________________________
I praise God that you have interpreted these events with spiritual and emotional maturity. Your parish priest, however, apparently has not. Many priests do not believe things like this happen, many are scared to deal with it, and some do not even believe in the devil (which is a heresy). Your instincts are precisely correct about these ghost investigation groups. Not a single one of these groups you see on TV, nor their followers who start their own groups (not on TV) in imitation to them, know what they are doing. The groups hold improper and theological notions, they sometime even use occult people to help them (such as psychics, witches, and shamans, which only makes matters worse), and they use techniques that are not only stupid but oftentimes dangerous. One famous ghost-buster was almost killed by using provocation techniques (commonly used by these people). Provocation is like "poking the dog", in this case, it is "poking the demon". How stupid can one get? Anyway, this famous ghost investigator retired after that. I can see why, and since he was an idiot anyway, I praise God that he has retired. When experiencing such things, Never, Never, Never, Never, but Never consult with a shaman, witch, psychic, medium, or other occult people, nor consult with one of these ghost investigation people who are not rock-solid Christians in everything they believe, their theories on ghosts and demons, and in their practices. That limits the possibilities to just a small few — perhaps as few as 5 or 6 or fewer in the whole of the United States. If you need a consult, contact a Catholic group like ours, that does not hobnob with the ghost-busting community and who is 100% loyal to the Holy See and to all that the Catholic Church officially teaches, and is consistent with the theological principles taught by the Church and her Saints. As to your experiences: Your experiences are consistent with one of two possibilities, both of which you have already considered and are seeking my opinion. One possibility is that the phenomena is demonic, and the other possibility is that the phenomena is Godly. In the possibility of an demonic explanation, the devil will have no problem sending his demons masquerading as human spirits to visit you and other family members. His motivation would be to try tin instill in you an improper curiosity in such things that might tempt you to use a Ouija board, go to a séance, or consult some occultist to explain the phenomena and perhaps get rig of the spirits, or to consult with one of these nimrod ghost investigators. Thank God, you did none of that, as doing any of those things could cause more severe problems. In the possibility of a Godly explanation, God may be allowing human spirits from purgatory to visit you for the purposes of inspiring you to pray for them. These purgatorial "ghosts" may not have anyone praying for them. Since you are a spiritual daughter of St. Padre Pio, which, by the way, is a great privilege and blessing, these apparitions may be under the direction of St. Padre Pio himself, sending these poor souls to you, with God's permission, so that you can continue in the ministry that St. Pio had himself—to pray for those in purgatory. If this is the case, then when you see these apparitions, pray for them that they will be released from purgatory soon. In this case, you have a wonderful and blessed and privileged apostolate. To be sure about this, I suggest the following:
If the phenomena continues and you do not think it is coming from God, then contact me and we will discuss other measures. God Bless,
