Question: I have a patient who is very young and I feel very bad for her. She suffers from severe depression and has eating disorders. She also has begun to cut herself again and was recently in the ER and now in an inpatient hospital. She seems such a pleasent young woman and always appears to try to be happy-go-lucky. Her father loves her very much. There is some depression in her family. I will be praying for her but could you please add her (I can't tell you her name due to HIPPA but God will know) to your perpetual spiritual warfare prayers? Also are there any specific demonic or spiritual injuries/past exeriences that are common to these type of psych disorders I could be praying to help weaken? I know there most likely is a chemistry disorder but I once learned that demons like to hitchhike on pysch problems from a certain brother ;). The info would also be useful to me for my family to pick up on these things or prevent them in my child God forbid he have any issues like these and others I meet in practice and so on. Thank you and God Bless. I have told the father in the most delicate way possible since I know he's Catholic, to try and go back to church and confession so he can better help his daughter with his prayers as you always seem to make similar recommendations. Of course she is getting the medical help she needs as well. |

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r)
Dear Joseph: We will certainly pray for this woman. As for what prayers to pray, that depends on what is going on in her life. We now have prayers in our Spiritual Warfare Prayer Catalog, linked below, for physcians, psychologists, etc. to pray for their patients. The Rebuking Prayer can be used to, for example, rebuke the spirit of depression, spirit of eating disorders, etc. Hedge Prayers of Protection are always on the list to pray. This, of course, will not likely help the psychiatric issues, but is will hopefully get rid of any demonic interference. While you can pray these prayers on her behalf, it is better for her to pray for herself. A central need for deliverance is for the woman and her father to celebrate Mass each week and receive the Sacraments. The Sacraments of Confession and Eucharist are the most powerful of spiritual warfare prayers. If the father wants to help his daughter he must return to the Church and practice his faith as a good devout Catholic. As the father, he has a spiritual power as head-of-the-family, the priest of the family. But, that power of prayer that he can practice will be thwarted if he is not right we God and the Church. We will be praying for this woman, her father, and you and your family. God Bless, For information on how to receive help see our Help page. We suggest that before contacting us directly for help you try the Seven Steps to Self-Deliverance. These self-help steps will often resolve the problem. Also our Spiritual Warfare Prayer Catalog contains many prayers that may be helpful. If needed you can ask for a Personal Consultation.
