Prayer is possibly making things worse Cecilia Sunday, May 6, 2012

Question:

Hello Dear Brother,

I have another question for you. On Saturdays, before my family wakes up I like to say some morning prayers. The last three prayers I pray are the Hedge Prayer for Protection of Household, Prayer of Renunciation of Ancestorial Sins and Rebuking Particular Spirits Affecting the Household.

I have three good teenagers. The are faithful to our Catholic Faith and recieve the sacraments, but I feel that as a family we seem more angry than usual and one of my children is becoming extremely lazy. After I say my prayers, it seems like all blazes lets loose. It seems that one, two or all three of the children will exihibit the exact characteristics that I am asking our Lord for help in. It gets so bad that our family is unable to do our errands since we are dealing with these extremes in behavior. It usually gets better towards the end of the day and everyone seems to be back to "normal".

Anyway, I was tempted to stop saying those three prayers, but I went ahead anyway and asked our Lady for some extra protection today which is Sunday. I am happy to report all seems peaceful today. However, am I doing the right thing? I did speak to the children and asked them to pray when one of their siblings is causing disention in the home. I just want to make sure it isn't me doing harm to our family. Why would things get worse? I don't understand. I will continue my prayers and wait for your reply. Thank you so much for this ministry and the time to give to our needs.

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r)

Dear Cecilia:

You are doing the right thing. The reason things can "heat up" is that the devil is trying to get you to stop. When the devil tries to do that you know you are doing the right thing.

Do not stop the prayers. Ask our Blessed Mother for extra help. In the Rebuking Prayer include a rebuke of the spirit of interference, and spirit of dissension, the spirit of irritation, and any other spirit you think might be there (identified by the demon's attribute).

Persevere in your prayers. Eventually, the demons will give up when they see you are not going to give-in.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
